What is a garden cabin?
A garden cabin is a prefabricated building that is made from timber logs. Log cabins are typically constructed using a tongue-and-groove system to make them very strong and durable.
Wooden garden cabins are typically made from thick logs cut and treated to withstand the elements. They may have windows and doors to provide light and ventilation.
Some garden log cabins have a terrace or other outdoor space, making them ideal for relaxing or entertaining guests.

What should I consider before buying a log cabin for my garden ?
If you are thinking about adding a garden log cabin shed to your property, there are a few things you should keep in mind:

- The location of the log cabin shed should be in a spot that gets plenty of sunlight.
- The cabin should be made from durable materials that can withstand the elements.
- The cabin should be properly sealed to prevent leaks.
- The log cabin shed should be ventilated to prevent mould and mildew.

Do I need planning permission to install a garden log cabin?
Depending on the size and placement of your garden log cabin, you may require
planning permission from your local council. Structures under 2.5 metres in height, like most of our log cabins, generally do not require permission. They fall within permitted development rules. However, it’s always best to check with your local authority.
What is the process for installing garden cabins ?
Our outdoor buildings can be purchased pre-made or built from scratch, with the option to connect with a network of trusted installers. Plus, our trucks are equipped with HIAB cranes to unload straight onto your driveway or path for easy installation.
If you are a DIY enthusiast building your own, you will need to purchase the logs, as well as the tools and materials necessary to assemble your DIY log cabin kits. You may also want to hire a professional to help you with the construction process.
Once your perfect log cabin is built, you can decorate it to your liking. You may want to add furniture, plants or other accessories to make it more comfortable and improve its functionality.
What is double-glazing and do I need it ?
Double glazing features two glass panes with an air or gas-filled gap in between. This layer improves insulation, which reduces heat loss and boosts energy efficiency.
Most of our log cabin range is available in three double-glazing standards. Each option offers much better levels of heat and sound insulation than single-glazed glass or perspex found in lower-grade products.
When making your choice on glazing and wall thickness, consider its usage. What time of year do you want to use it?
- If you are planning a summer house with somewhere to store your garden furniture, a thinner wall with standard glazing will suffice.
- On the other end of the scale, with all-year-round usage, a thicker wall with premium glazing makes far more sense to ensure indoor comfort.
Also, consider your location. Southern counties generally have milder winters than those north of the Midlands.
How do I maintain my garden log cabin?
Log cabins require very little maintenance to ensure their functionality. However, there are a few things you can do to keep your log cabin in good condition.
Treat the Timber
To protect your insulated log cabin from the elements, apply a high-quality wood preservative every few years. This helps prevent moisture damage, rot and insect infestations.
Clean the Cabin
Wash the exterior with a mild detergent and water. Inside, dust and vacuum frequently, especially if it’s used for storage or as additional living space.
Inspect the Cabin
Inspect your garden log cabin regularly for any signs of damage. Repair any damage to the roof, windows, doors or walls immediately to prevent it from worsening.
