Crafting Andy N's Dream Cabin

Andy approached Garden Adventure with a clear idea of what he wanted to provision an outdoor skills classroom for his daughters Duke of Edinburgh group. So far, he had not had a good experience in this challenge and was pleased at our initial response.

1. Initial Consultation and Design

We sat down and we shared images of our standard cabin designs. Together, we discussed Andy's vision for his cabin, including his desired size, layout, and features. Andy was able to pick out the bits he wanted from each that we could then put together as a set of plans for him to view and pass comment. Armed with this information, the design team set to work creating a bespoke cabin plan that would bring Andy's vision to life. Through open communication and collaboration, Andy was able to provide input and feedback at every stage of the design process, ensuring that the final plan met his exact specifications.

2. Custom Sizing and Modifications

One of the key requirements for Andy's cabin was custom sizing to fit a specific location on his property. The design team worked closely with Andy to determine the optimal dimensions for his cabin, taking into account factors such as available space, site conditions, and local regulations. Through careful planning and precise measurements, they were able to create a custom-sized cabin that maximised usable space while seamlessly integrating with its surroundings. Additional windows were added and a wider porch area to provide a covered area and protection from the elements.

3. Selection of Materials and Finishes

With the cabin design finalised, Andy turned his attention to selecting materials and finishes that would bring his vision to life. Drawing inspiration from the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape, Andy opted for high-quality timber sourced from sustainable forests for the construction of his cabin. Due to its size, we recommended a log thickness of no less than 44mm. The options were 44, 68 and 90mm. The final spec was 68mm.

4. Installation and Finishing Touches

Once the cabin components were manufactured to Andy's specifications, the cabin was shipped to the UK and distributed to his location from the UK hub in Leicester. During installation, optional insulation was added to the under floor and roof and guttering provided a means of harvesting the water and protecting the cabin from splash back.

5. Enjoying the Finished Product

With the installation complete and the finishing touches in place, Andy's custom-sized Monterosa cabin was ready for his daughters group to enjoy.

Conclusion: A Cabin Tailored to Perfection

In conclusion, Andy's journey of creating a custom-sized Monterosa cabin exemplifies the power of bespoke design and craftsmanship. By working closely with the team at Garden Adventure, Andy was able to create a cabin that not only met but exceeded his expectations. From the initial consultation and design to the selection of materials and finishes, installation, and enjoyment of the finished product, Andy's custom-sized Monterosa cabin is a testament to the transformative power of personalised design and attention to detail.
