Surrey is a county in southeastern England, known for its rich history, stunning natural beauty, and vibrant communities.
Here are some interesting facts about Surrey:
- Did you know, Surrey is the most wooded county in England, with over 22% of its land covered by woodland. (– Ed Note. When I was at Plumpton Agricultural college in the early eighties, we were told Sussex was the most wooded county. That means Surrey has upped its game or Sussex has lost some of its tree covered areas. Let's hope its the former)
- The world-famous author Lewis Carroll (real name Charles Lutwidge Dodgson), who wrote "Alice in Wonderland," spent most of his life in Surrey.
- The famous British singer and songwriter Adele was born in Tottenham but raised in West Norwood, Surrey.
- Surrey is home to one of the oldest and largest vineyards in England, the Denbies Wine Estate, which produces award-winning English wines. Excellent to drink the wine but also mountain bike around the estate.

- Surrey has over 80 golf courses, making it one of the most popular golfing destinations in the UK.

- Surrey is home to some of the UK's most famous racecourses, including Epsom Downs and Sandown Park.
- The Surrey Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty, covers over 160 square kilometres and includes the highest point in southeast England, Leith Hill – Ed Note. Again, fabulous mountain biking in the area. Had many a good day hurtling down "Barry Knows Best" and "Yogurt Pots" !

Are there any famous log cabins in Surrey ?
We are not aware of any famous log cabins in Surrey, as log cabins are not a traditional architectural style in this part of England. However, there are some traditional timber-framed buildings in the county that may be of interest. Here are a few examples:
- The Abinger Hammer Mill - A restored 18th-century watermill in Abinger Hammer, featuring timber-framed buildings and picturesque gardens – Ed Note. As a family we visited our very good friends on Peasemarsh Farm, Gillingham, Dorset every Whitsun. Before the M25 was built we would track through Dorking and out to the Hogs Back (A31) occasionally stopping at the Little Chef where they had a monkey in a cage (how bizarre!) Anyway back to Abinger on the A25, approaching this lovely village, passing the watercress beds, in anticipation of seeing the bell being struck by the puppet (see pic below) to announce the coming of the next hour. Not sure we ever saw it happen !
- The Tudor Antiques Centre - A 16th-century timber-framed building in Dorking, which houses a collection of antiques and curiosities.
- The Old Kings Head - A historic pub in Brockham, dating back to the 16th century and featuring a thatched roof and exposed timber beams.
- The Watts Gallery - The Watts Gallery in Compton, near Guildford, is housed in a restored 19th-century chapel featuring exposed timber beams and a vaulted ceiling.
The Abinger Hammer Bell
While these buildings are not log cabins per se, they showcase the traditional use of timber in Surrey's architecture and offer a glimpse into the county's rich history and heritage.
We have a good number of existing customers where we have delivered cabins to Surrey who have bought and installed Log Cabins from Garden Adventure. Not famous yet, but in time they could be !

- Excellent service, Martin was available to answer questions and help whenever needed, quite a feat during the recent problems of supply. The cabin is very good quality and reasonably easy to put together. Just one small caveat; the instructions could be better, they're generic and don't really cover the small differences in the various cabins. Also, it would be better if the instructions were at the top of the pack, instead of in the middle, that would allow a bit of reading before opening the whole pack. Having said that, I'm very pleased with the cabin and would highly recommend Garden Adventures if you are considering buying a cabin.

- The Meribel cabin was exactly as expected, good quality and instructions were fairly easy to follow. Martin was very helpful when ordering and accommodated my slight change in door design no problem at all. I have already recommended my neighbour to order a cabin from you.
